故事从2008年上海演唱会突发状况说起。躺在担架上的三哥邓长富急病中悠悠忆起，1953年那个初冬的早晨，中国台湾眷村里，邓家第四个孩子，“丫头”邓丽君诞生。丫头在歌唱方面的才华幼时便已显现，无奈父亲邓枢坚决反对。邓枢退伍，开始了市场摆摊生涯。丫头不解父亲心中的抑郁和乡愁，但她成了父亲卖包子馒头的小帮手。小学毕业后，丫头未能考上初中。但已透过电台歌唱比赛获胜成为歌唱节目的固定班底。邓枢在市场摆摊与流氓发生冲突，被殴打成伤，还闹上了官司。深夜里，夫妇俩感慨这一切只因没有固定店面所致。丫头听在耳里，心疼父母，成为签约歌手并预支薪水，用这笔钱替父亲顶下了店面。邓枢知道后感动不已。丫头终于顺利登台，获得好评无数。。Many Thais suffering from poverty choose the lottery over labor or frugality to get out of poverty.
