(Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。姜铁山（张铮 饰）武功高强，名震北方，某日，有人找他托镖，恰逢铁山有事外出，铁山的女儿姜文英（米雪 饰）和妻子苗玉娘（郭锦华 饰）便决心替他走一趟。那晓得一行人途中遭遇了劫匪，玉娘身负重伤，文英则被歹徒掠走，不知所踪。 姜铁山得知此事怒上心头，南下寻找文英，于偶然之中结识了南派高手容沧海（董镖 饰），误会之下两人大打出手。一场意外让姜铁山身陷囹圄，将被择日问斩，就在此紧要关头，容沧海出手相救。最终，姜铁山明白了容沧海的良苦用心，两人结为挚友。容家人被大太监利用，最终大难临头，就在容沧海家破人亡之际，姜铁山决心与他联手，铲奸除恶。。
