电影讲述了五位性格各异的都市女性，在面临当代男女情感困惑，闺蜜团内部窘境以及职业女性困境等多重社会问题时，彼此扶持携手度过种种难关的故事。。Speedy" loses his job as a soda-jerk, then spends the day with his girl at Coney Island. He then becomes a cab driver and delivers Babe Ruth to Yankee Stadium, where he stays to see the game. When the railroad tries to run the last horse-drawn trolley (operated by his girl's grandfather) out of business, "Speedy" organizes the neighborhood oldtimers to thwart their scheme.。
