梦想成为摄影师的年轻女孩河合夏美（有村架纯 饰）对迷茫的未来颇感不安，而男友相羽慎吾（工藤阿须加 饰）暧昧不明的态度更令她焦灼难平。在某个夏日，她跨上父亲留下的摩托车，驶往那个曾经和父亲一起观赏过萤火虫的森林。在森林附近，她邂逅了经营杂货铺的安女士（吉行和子 饰）及其被称为“地藏法师”的儿子惠三（光石研 饰），并受到母子的热情款待。未过多久，慎吾追随着夏美的脚步到来，与世隔绝的安逸所在，让年轻男女紧张的身心得到放松。 某天，地藏法师突然病倒住院。在这关键时刻，夏美无意中得知了地藏法师和分居的家人之间存在难以弥合的裂痕，他为此饱受痛苦折磨。不知不觉，夏美决定要为这个经常带着笑容的男人做一些什么……。Young people use music to express their new awareness of life and generational opposition to their parents, as well as to protest the social and political climate in East Germany.
