在小镇上不怎么合群的芬恩希望在本地的溜冰比赛中一鸣惊人，为此他投入了大量的精力与热情，希望有朝一日能成为职业溜冰运动员。但在他的训练溜冰场关门后，他和小伙伴们必须想办法让它重新营业起来。长相可人的折原优香（和久井映見 饰）却是一个患有轻度智障的女孩，好在上天还算公平，慷慨赐予优香卓越的艺术天赋。在无外界繁杂因素干扰的情况下，优香顾自沉迷在自己纯粹的艺术世界中。偶然机会，优香的堂弟神崎凉（高橋克典 饰）带着姐姐的作品参加比赛，结果竟让优香一举成名。她的母亲孝子（風吹ジュン 饰）担心女儿的智障会被当作热点话题炒作，于是尽全力进行保护。 泽渡彻（堤真一 饰）是一个郁郁不得志的记者，他因揭露一桩政治丑闻而被“发配”到娱乐版块。在报道天才少女优香的过程中，他慢慢知道事情背后的真相。而优香也适时为阿彻开启了一扇通往全新世界的大门……。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
